Visual art students will continue to be allowed to use blatant nudity, tobacco products, ect.
Meanwhile, in Media, we will continue to censor everything and be forced to simply make pretty photographs, further diminishing our art area’s credibility as real art that requires thought, inspiration, and motivation.
The reason (so we’re told):
Because people will come into the gallery and if they see a minor that is wrapped in a bedsheet and not wearing clothes, or a woman (clothed) and in ropes, or anything else that offends them, they will try to get our funding lost and Perpich shut down.
So… do people just not go in the other galleries when they come here or…?
Art offends sometimes. If everyone else is allowed to offend, then god dammit, we’re gonna offend too. Or we will at least try our very hardest to get an “offensive” piece that fits the assignment and that we are proud of, put up in the gallery. Deal with it.
SMH.
